While planning a safari holiday it is important to think about what facilities you will require from your accomodation before deciding where you want to go. When going on safari you first need to decide the kind of animals you want to see when you are over there as that will determine where exactly in Africa you will have to take your holiday. Here are some different examples of places in Africa that are known for being good safari destinations:

  • Elephant Rides on SafariKenya – This is one of Africa’s most well known destinations and is a very popular place for safari holidays. Knowing the best time to go during the year is also something to think about as it is extremely hot in Kenya around January through to March. Around March is when Kenya has what is known as the long rain season which lasts between March and June, and later on in the year between October and November is when they experience what is called the short rain season. This goes to show the massive difference between the weather seasons of Kenya and the UK.
There are plenty of National Parks in Africa, with plenty of them being around the Kenya region, all of which have different advantages over the others. An example of one of the National Parks is the Lake Nakuru national park in Africa that each year has thousands of pink flamingos flock to its warm waters to feed on the abundance of green algae, where as the Tsavo National Park has springs that attract a variety including hippos, crocodiles and land predators such as lions and leopards, also hyenas.
  • Safari Trek HolidaysBotswana – although they are both in Africa because it’s such a large country there are differences in when their different seasons occur unlike Kenya where their summer is through January – March Botswana’s starts in November and ends in March. It has a wider variety of wildlife than some parks as it has a number of water holes and with the land being so harsh at times water is the main thing that most of the animals seek out. One of its main attractions is the Okavango Delta which is an area of wet lands it is a place that the Okavango River flows through and disappears, it is the only river in the world that doesn’t flow into the sea. So because of the wet lands and river the main form of transport in the area is the mokoro which is a locally made dug out canoe.
