When planning a safari holiday it depends on what you want to see and what exactly you require from a holidays facility. When going on safari you first need to decide the kind of animals you want to see when you are over there as that will determine where exactly in Africa you will have to take your holiday. Here are some different examples of places in Africa that are known for being good safari destinations:

  • Safari HolidaysKenya – This is one of Africa’s most well known destinations and is a very popular place for safari holidays. Knowing the best time to go during the year is also something to think about as it is extremely hot in Kenya around January through to March. However, where as the weather in Britain is generally bad around this time of the year nearly the only time it rains in Kenya is around March to June, and this is the time when they encounter what is known as the long rain season, later on in the year between October and November is when they experience what is called the short rain season.
There are plenty of National Parks around this area of Africa all of which have different advantages over the others an example of one of these parks is the Lake Nakuru national park that each year has thousands of pink flamingos flock to its warm waters to feed on the abundance of green algae, where as the Tsavo National Park has springs that attract a variety including hippos, crocodiles and land predators such as lions and leopards, also hyenas.
  • Safari HolidaysBotswana – although they are both in Africa because it’s such a large country there are differences in when their different seasons occur unlike Kenya where their summer is through January – March Botswana’s starts in November and ends in March. It has a wider variety of wildlife than some parks as it has a number of water holes and with the land being so harsh at times water is the main thing that most of the animals seek out. One of its main attractions is the Okavango Delta which is an area of wet lands it is a place that the Okavango River flows through and disappears, it is the only river in the world that doesn’t flow into the sea. So because of the wet lands and river the main form of transport in the area is the mokoro which is a locally made dug out canoe.
